    • Member Services Director

      Member Services Director-Americana YMCA


      The YMCA of the Capital Area is looking for a mission-driven, growth-oriented individual to serve as Member Services Director at our Americana YMCA in Zachary, La. 


      Under the direction of the Executive Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Member Services Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all areas that pertain to member services. This position will also work with the Executive Director to develop strategies to increase member retention and engagement. This position will supervise both the wellness and membership departments and be an integral part of the team at the Americana YMCA.


      Essential Job Functions:


      1. Implement membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Work with the Executive Director to create a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Foster a climate of innovation and resolve problems to ensure member satisfaction. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

      2. Handle the sale of memberships in person (tours) and on the phone in a courteous and helpful manner dispensing information efficiently, accurately, and pleasantly.

      3. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct front desk and wellness personnel and volunteers as needed. Complete payroll for direct reports. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

      4. Ensure front desk and fitness floor staff provide a superior member service atmosphere.

      5. Direct supervision of health and wellness programs including Fitpath orientations for members.

      6. Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the quality and consistency of all group exercise classes. This includes teaching various classes as needed.

      7. Maintain all membership records and prepare monthly status reports timely and accurately.

      8. Provide continuing educational opportunities (staff meetings/off-hour trainings) to ensure staff perform at the highest level. Ensure accurate information on membership and programs is distributed to the front desk.

      9. In association with the Wellness Quality Team, ensure proper implementation of wellness procedures, including all personal training programs. Review and update these procedures and communicate changes to staff. This includes developing, implementing, and managing an operating plan.

      10. Promote program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Work with association wellness team to coordinate program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinate with marketing efforts to maximize enrollment to grow program and membership revenue.

      11. Assist in the marketing and distribution of information, organize and schedule program registration.

      12. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with members and participants.  

      13. Participate in the planning of the annual budget; manage and implement the approved budget for membership and wellness departments and take appropriate action to correct variances.

      14. Establish new activities and expand programming within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

      15. Organize membership and wellness events at the Americana YMCA and represent the YMCA at community events.

      16. Respond immediately to reports of machine or other malfunctions; render situation safe by correcting or closing the area or machine. Inform supervisor and call to schedule the machine for service when necessary.

      17. Provide coverage for the front desk and fitness floor when needed.

      18. Serve as an effective member of the Association Membership and Wellness Quality Teams.

      19. Lead assigned aspects of fundraising campaigns.

      20. Participate in staff meetings and/or related meetings.

      21. Routinely clean and sanitize facilities, equipment and supplies.

      22. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


      Qualifications:


      • Bachelor's degree preferred.

      • One to two years related experience required.

      • Ability to teach varied exercise modalities and/or group exercise certification preferred.

      • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

      • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.

      • Experience in SGA a plus.

      • Ability to develop short & long-term plans with a high degree of quality, effectiveness and professionalism.

      • Within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention training; CPR; First Aid; AED; Oxygen Administration.

      • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of 

      the community.

      • Current YMCA Fitness Trainings or Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification preferred.

      • YMCA Team Leadership Certification to be obtained within three years of hire.

    • Program Director

      The YMCA of the Capital Area is looking for a mission-driven, growth-oriented individual to serve as Program Director at our Americana YMCA in Zachary, La. 


      Under the direction of the Executive Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, this position is responsible for the planning, development, administration, expansion and evaluation of programming at the branch. The incumbent is responsible for supervision of direct report program staff. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting with the preparing of the annual branch budget and goals to be achieved. The incumbent will ensure that program staff produce quality programs based on member and community needs.  


      Essential Job Functions:

      • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct program personnel and volunteers as needed. Complete payroll for direct reports. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

      • Plan, organize, promote, and direct all aspects of programming.

      • Promote the benefits and services of family membership in all programs.

      • Ensure that the inventory of equipment related to all programs is adequate to meet the need of the program.  

      • Ensure that the mission of the YMCA is incorporated into all services.

      • Ensure that a high standard of quality is maintained in the delivery of programs for all departments. 

      • Perform as an effective leader and member of the YMCA staff team.

      • Ensure that all program staff have current certifications and adhere to all licensing and YMCA standards as set forth by the association.

      • Attend all appropriate staff meetings and trainings events.

      • Serve as an effective member of the Association program Quality Teams.  

      • Provide for accurate records and make timely reports on attendance, enrollment and participation for all programs.

      • Maintain the branch website information for programs at all times.

      • Obtain training credentials for program accountabilities.

      • Routinely clean and sanitize facilities, equipment and supplies.

      • Perform other miscellaneous duties as outlined by the supervisor.


      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of three years successful management experience with a high level of customer relationship knowledge preferred.

      • Minimum of two years’ experience in programming.

      • Highly developed organizational skills.

      • Professional oral and written communication skills.

      • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.

      • Experience in SGA a plus.

      • Ability to develop short & long-term plans with a high degree of quality, effectiveness and professionalism.

      • Within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention training; CPR; First Aid; AED; Oxygen Administration.

    • Extended Day Counselor-A. C. Lewis YMCA

      The YMCA of the Capital Area seeks Extended Day Counselors at select school sites in East Baton Rouge Parish: Broadmoor Elementary School, Wildwood Elementary School, Riveroaks Elementary School, LaSalle Elementary and Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter School. 


      Some school sites may require additional hours for early dismissals at the school. This position will assist in the care taking and supervision of youth placed in YMCA care before and after the school day during the 2026-2027 school year at the school sites. 


      The counselor will assist students with homework and provide fun hands-on and recreational activities for the students.


      Must be able to work: Mon-Fri, hours 6:20 a.m.-7:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter School and Mon-Fri, hours of 6:50 a.m. - 8:05 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for all other sites. 


      Knowledge & experience working with youth and children from ages 4-13 preferred; experience working in a structured youth program preferred; experience providing tutorial care and recreational activities to youth is preferred. Must pass drug screen and b/g check. Starting pay is $15/hour.

      Knowledge & experience working with youth and children from ages 4-13 preferred; experience working in a structured youth program preferred; experience providing tutorial care and recreational activities to youth is preferred.
